SweepSouth Kenya has made a very difficult decision to pause Operations effective November 30th, 2022.
While Nairobi is seeing a slight economic recovery from Covid-19, the home service space has been hit hard. This has meant our business cannot sustainably operate, due to the economic pressures being faced right now and the timeline for recovery is not certain at this point.

The decision is a difficult one to make. We know that this will negatively impact our SweepSouth community and SweepStars. We set out to provide dignified work and dignified pay in the digital GIG economy, building a community of over 130 SweepStars that dedicated themselves to our mission by providing an excellent service.

From now, until November 30th, we will be cancelling all December bookings and issuing refunds to our customers. We encourage our customers to continue supporting our hardworking, vetted SweepStars, by booking them directly.

SweepSouth will continue to empower its community in South Africa and Egypt and still are very dedicated to providing dignified work at fair pay and working conditions to SweepStars, all while providing a platform to book, manage and pay for your home clean online.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 

What about the bookings I paid for? When will I get refunded?  All refunds will be processed by the 7th of December 2022.

What about the SweepCred in my account? SweepCred that was paid for using M-pesa or credit card, will be refunded in full by  7th December 2022 .
Can I still continue to use the SweepStar privately? You are able to make arrangements directly with the SweepStar, independent of SweepSouth.

How can I contact the SweepStars I want to work with? Our support lines are still open till 2nd December 2022, reach out with the name of your SweepStar, and we will gladly share their contact information OR  Please refer to your previous booking confirmation email to gain access to your SweepStar’s contact information.

What happens to the SweepStars? It remains a priority for SweepSouth to be pioneers and leaders in this space, and while we will no longer be operating in Kenya, we will continue to keep abreast of activity in the Kenyan market and assist SweepStars in matching them with previous clients in a private capacity. We aim to continue making an impact through our Annual Report on Pay and Working conditions in the domestic sector across Africa. Core to SweepSouth's mission is promoting the improvement of working conditions within the domestic work sector. Annually our report is created to shed light on the industry, to build awareness and effect change and we will continue to do so.
